Frankston Hospital Expansion – A boost for local businesses
August 16, 2021
Local construction, manufacturing and services businesses across Frankston, Carrum Downs and the Mornington Peninsula are set for a major boost from the $605 million expansion of the Frankston Hospital. The successful bidder to supply construction and other services is expected to be announced in early 2022, with construction of the multi-storey tower to be completed by late 2024. This construction is likely to create around 1,700 jobs, and require goods and services from hundreds of local companies and contractors. Michael Crowder, Director at Nichols Crowder and Board Member of the Committee for Greater Frankston (C4GF), says, “The Frankston Hospital upgrade is a real game-changer for so many businesses in the region. This is great news for all those building, services and other firms that have suffered from shutdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic.” In addition to the advocacy work provided by C4GF in relation to the hospital upgrade and the nearby Lathams Road duplication project in Carrum Downs, the committee is also hosting several procurement events. “The C4GF’s procurement events show local businesses how they can tender for work on these projects, and provide their goods and services,” explains Mr Crowder. “Information for these is available on the C4GF website, with Frankston City Council also providing building expos and workshops for local businesses.” Ms Hosking, the C4GF CEO, said “Tendering is already underway and provides a unique opporunity for businesses in Frankston and the broader Mornington Peninsula”. Our events will enable local businesses (small, medium, and large) to speak directly with the project team about how to best showcase their innovations.
