The third generation of two renowned Melbourne real estate families came together when Michael Crowder and Matt Nichols created Nichols Crowder Property Solutions in 2007.
With property in their blood, Matt Nichols and Michael Crowder joined forces with Richard Wraith and Matthew Spicer, and today Nichols Crowder is a leading commercial and industrial real estate agency writing the next chapter of history.
Nichols Crowder recently expanded their dedicated team of highly trained professionals by aligning with Nixon Industrial, formerly known as Kevin Nixon Real Estate.
Crowders was founded in 1952 by Michael Crowder's grandfather John and his Uncle Ian. Michael's father Geoffrey joined the business in1958 and together they created one of the largest, most successful real estate agencies, with eight offices in Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula.
Crowders was a highly regarded family real estate business, credited with establishing much of the Frankston CBD and strongly influencing development on the Mornington Peninsula. For 54 years Crowders specialised in the sale, lease and management of residential commercial, industrial and retail properties before being sold in 2006.
Matt Nichol's grandfather, Eric Weber was an entrepreneurial young man who started in business at 325 Collins Street Melbourne in 1922 when he was just 17 years old. Over the next thirty years he dominated the market and became a pioneer of land subdivision auctions famously held under the big marquee.
Years later he offered a job to a young butcher by the name of John Nichols who was dating his daughter. John went on to become one of Melbourne's most celebrated and in-demand auctioneers, and was the President of the REIV in 1971 and 1972. John also set up a number of offices around Melbourne. The family sold the business in 1988 to Carmichael and the name subsequently changed to Carmichael Weber.
John’s son Matt Nichols cut his teeth in all aspects of the property sector working with large corporations such as Colliers International and Knight Frank, and was based in Jakarta and Singapore for a few years before returning to Australia to set up Nichols Weber Property Solutions in honour of his family heritage.
Initially based in the CBD, Matt moved the business to the Bayside precinct and as he developed a reputation as the go-to Bayside property expert the business flourished.
Established in 1976, Kevin Nixon Real Estate specialises in commercial and industrial real estate. Today Kevin’s son Antony is an integral part of the firm and with many long-standing team members, the business has a wealth of industrial property knowledge and expertise.
The highly skilled team focus on selling, leasing and managing commercial, retail, industrial and investment properties in the CBD and throughout Melbourne, particularly in the South East. Kevin Nixon Real Estate also manages properties in Sydney, Adelaide, Launceston, Tasmania and on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.
